Every discerning diner becomes cautious when a restaurant begins to expand at what's perceived to be too rapid a pace; the natural reaction being that as the chain grows, the quality of its food will, in turn, suffer. That definitely has not been the case with Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. The brand that began with one full-scale operation (Anthony's Runway 84) more than three decades ago now boasts 27 ACFP locations. Take it from me, it's as good as ever. By now, the restaurant's reputation precedes it. So just for the record: the pizza comes out thin-crusted, burnt, and savory. Every time. There are other notable items on the menu like the excellent grilled chicken wings and some salads. But if your next time will be your first time visiting ACFP, get the pizza. It has few, if any peers, in town. And unlike some competitors, this establishment is serious when it says all of its ingredients are fresh. Nothing is ever frozen, stored, or re-heated. (ACFP was founded by Anthony Bruno who took on former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino as a partner when he needed financing to begin his initial expansion in 2002).
